Objective To analyze the correlation between ankle-brachial index(ABI) and balance degree and investigate the risk factors of balance degreein patients with diabetes. Methods Dopler ultrasound machine was used to examine ABI in 80 patients admitted to the Endocrinology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from March 2018 to December 2020.The patients with ABI below 0.9 were set as low ABI group and those with ABI 0.9-1.3 as normal ABI group. The balance degrees of all subjects were evaluated by berg balance scale.Variables between these two groups were compared, such as the course of diabetes, age, blood pressure,HbA1c,blood cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, urinary albumin/creatinine,fall frequency, and the correlation between ankle-brachial index (ABI) and balance degree were analyzed. Results The scores of berg balance scale of patients in low ABI group were significantly lower than those of normal ABI group (P<0.05) and fall frequency of patients in low ABI group were significantly higher than those of normal ABI group(P<0.05).The scores of berg balance scale were negatively associated with age, urinary albumin/creatinine (P<0.05) and positively associated with ABI(P<0.05).Multi-linear regression analysis demonstrated that age and ABI were the risk factors of balance degree. Conclusions ABI is an important factor which affects balance degree in patients with diabetes.
