| Osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture is among the most prevalent skeletal disorders affecting the elderly population. It is characterized by a bone mass loss, diminished bone quality, and decreased bone strength, often accompanied by back pain and restricted mobility.Traditional conservative treatments typically require prolonged bed rest, which may result in various complications. In contrast, surgical interventions, particularly percutaneous vertebroplasty, offer several advantages, including minimal invasiveness, faster recovery, and a lower incidence of complications, thereby significantly enhancing patients′ quality of life. However, osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture frequently involves severe vertebral compression, restricting the available space for needle insertion, increasing procedural complexity, and heightening the risk of severe complications. With technological advancements, orthopedic surgical robots have emerged as a transformative tool in the management of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture, demonstrating distinct advantages. These systems utilize patient-specific three-dimensional imaging data to assist physicians in planning the entry point, trajectory, and depth of needle insertion.Additionally, robotic arms precisely execute positioning tasks based on pre-planned paths. This approach significantly reduces risks associated with manual errors, such as damage to adjacent neurovascular structures and cement leakage, thereby improving both the accuracy and safety of the procedure. This article aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the indications, contraindications, surgical techniques, and postoperative complications associated with the use of spinal robots in the treatment of OVCF in elderly patients.Furthermore,it examines the current state of development in this field and explores potential future directions. |
